Local school introduced to aquaculture

Local school introduced to aquaculture

Today our Managing Director, Dr Jack James, accepted an invitation to visit Park Primary School to talk to the children starting secondary school in September and introduce aquaculture as a possible career path, and highlight the subjects and activities which could facilitate them following this path.

The children were shown pictures of several fish species that we have kept at Pontus Research and were encouraged to ask questions about the fish and how we study them in our facilities. There was a lot of interest in the company and in biology, research and aquaculture.

Hopefully outreach events like this can get children interested in aquaculture and marine and aquatic sciences and view them as viable career paths that can mean good jobs in the local community, and help develop the skills they need in the modern world of work.
